Airplay using Apple iPad or iPhone
If you own a relatively newer Smart TV such as LG, Samsung or Vizio, these manufacturers most likely have ‘Apple Airplay‘ already built into their system. Follow the steps below to use Airplay. Note: older devices may need updates.
- Be sure both the iPhone / iPad and your Smart TV are connected to the same WiFi network.
- Open Pilatesology’s free mobile app (Login with your username/email) or open the website via an internet browser from your phone, tablet or laptop
- Select any video and open it to fullscreen. Touch the AirPlay icon (it’s the box that looks like a TV) in the top right corner in the app or bottom right corner on the web player.
- This will open a list of devices to use Airplay. Choose your TV.
Mirror your iPhone/iPad
If you have an Apple TV and would like to access all Pilatesology classes, you will be able to select 'Screen Mirroring’ in your Apple Control Center:
- Turn on Apple TV and connect to Wi-Fi
- Connect iPhone to the same Wi-Fi
- Swipe down on iPhone device to show Control Center
- Select “Screen Mirroring”
- Select Apple TV you wish to connect to
- Enter the code provided, iPhone screen will now mirror on to your TV.
Connect to your TV with wireless casting (Android)
Casting is the process of wirelessly streaming content from your phone or tablet, by connecting to the same WiFi network as your television. Smartphone apps like AllCast will be able to cast direct to the TV for you, though most modern Android phones (Android 4.2 onwards) and Windows devices (Windows 8.1 onwards) will support the Miracast casting standard.
With Miracast, you simply head to your phone’s Display settings, check under Cast, and select Enable Wireless Display to check for nearby devices to cast to.
If you have a Chromecast Enabled TV check this article for the steps on ‘casting’ a tab from your laptop to your TV.
Connect your TV to a Phone, Tablet or Laptop with HDMI Cable
All flat-screen TVs offer at least one HDMI port, as do practically all non-Apple laptops that have been manufactured in the last eight years. HDMI is just about the best solution at the moment, as it supports both audio and video. All you need is an HDMI cable to connect the two.
You could spend a small fortune on expensive HDMI cables, but the truth of the matter is that for HD video transmitted from your laptop, any HDMI cable will do. These are inexpensive and can be found on Amazon.
Additionally you can buy any of the adapters for pretty much any device to output to HDMI. iPhones and iPads, Tablets, etc.... all will have a path to HDMI allowing you to plug and go.
